Kirsten Allen gave an impressive PowerPoint presentation about native plants and how to introduce them into home gardens at the April 20 meeting.

PowerPoint Carries Vital Message

A presentation slide about healing the Earth through re-wilding and ending human exploitation.

One of her slides emphasized that we can, in fact, heal the earth. Focusing on the incorporation of native plants will help.

Members from three clubs met for the annual district convention in Prescott.

Honoring the 250th Anniversary of America

The district convention theme was "It's a Grand Old Flag," so the clubhouse was decked out in red, white and blue.

New officers installed for 2026-2028 term

Jean Franovich, president; Barb Lahaie, trustee; Lura Kingsford installing officer; Kathy Howe, vice president and Janette Gann, treasurer, were installed in January.

Eva Veitch, secretary, was installed at a later date.

 "Let Generous Hearts Prevail" is the theme, the colors are red and gold and red gladiola the flower.

Monday Club inducts new member

During the January General Club meeting, Johanna Van Dyck took the Monday Club pledge and volunteered to serve on the GFWC Environment Program.

Club continues to grow

Mary Walsh, Lea Anderson and Rosey Padgett were inducted into the club on November 17, 2025.

      Success for Survivors

      You may qualify for a $3000 GFWC Domestic Violence Survivor Scholarship

      Thank you for your interest in the Success for Survivors Scholarship which is available through the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). You may qualify for a grant of up to $3000 to use at an accredited public or private post-secondary or vocational institution. 

      The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2026.

      These are the requirements:

      · Domestic or sexual violence survivor 

      · Citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States 

      · Enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited public or private post-secondary or vocational institution 

      · Recommended by a domestic violence agency and/or academic counselor or social worker willing to provide information on behalf of the applicant 

      According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), domestic violence is classified as "physical violence, sexual violence, stalking, and psychological aggression (including coercive acts) by a current or former intimate partner."

      Monday Club offers an additional $1000 scholarship

      The Monday Club of Prescott, which is affiliated with the GFWC, applauds your decision to achieve your educational goals, and you may submit an additional copy of this application to our email address: mondayclubprescott@gmail.com to qualify for our local $1000 scholarship. We are available to help you with the application process for either or both scholarships. Rest assured that all of your information will remain strictly confidential.

      Application deadlines

      The attached documents must be completed and mailed in time to arrive in Washington, D.C. no later than Feb. 15, 2026, for the GFWC scholarship and to the Monday Club email address: mondayclubprescott@gmail.com no later than March 1, 2026, for the Monday Club DVS Scholarship.
